Thank you, Dsign Goddess...
You are the sole person who decided to comment/wager on this one...tres bein. le film est tres bein....

The movie is called The Dinner Game, or Le Diner De Con..
Each week, Pierre and his friends organize what is called as "un dîner de cons". Everyone brings the dumbest guy he could find as a guest. Pierre thinks his champ -François Pignon- will steal the show.
Every Wednesday night a few guys have a meal together. There is a game coupled with the meal: each one of them has to bring an "idiot". The game consists in making the idiots talk about their ideas and passions so that the hosts can have a good laugh. At the end they will choose the "idiot of the evening". One of the hosts has invited his idiot home so they could go to the dinner together, but unfortunately he gets a severe pain in his back due to an accident that day and can't go to the "meal of idiots". How convenient, the idiot is there when his wife decides she doesn't want to be married to him anymore!

Even worse is the fact that the idiot tries to help him all the time, and naturally does everything wrong and aggravates every situation.

He get dumped, the tax audited, and more...all in one evening...so the real idiot is not whom he was to invite, it is him!

See it..its hilarious.

There are so many jerks out there, deciding which one gets to come first is a tuffy!

Sounds very interesting. More so than the silly "teen movie" take-offs of this plot. Am I to assume it's a foreign film then? I would also, then, like to assume that, if it is, there would be subtitles for those of us who do not speak francais? :)

Good luck with your Le diner de con! I'm sure it will be the event of the year!
